“Gadabout? is a classic Bertram 42 Motor Yacht. She has enjoyed her lifetime in freshwater. There is a huge v-berth forward followed by a large hanging locker to starboard. There is a central vacuum in this locker. To port is a sizable head with plenty of storage. 90 degree stairs up to the galley provide plenty of privacy for this forward cabin. She has a large mid-level galley with full size residential refrigerator, electric range, microwave, double sink and tons of storage. Aft of the galley is a beautiful salon with a custom leather sectional that can be converted into a bed that sleeps two. It also has latched drawers underneath for more storage. The salon has a mounted 120/12V television with built in dvd player. Aft is a spacious stateroom with 2 full size beds. There are 2 hanging lockers and storage everywhere. This aft stateroom contains a full size head with enclosed shower. This 1984 Bertram comes with a warm teak interior, not the Formica of older models. Gadabout sleeps 8 comfortably.
The full width cockpit is comfortable underway. It has a full canvas enclosure that has zip up windows for total circulation. The cockpit is a joy at anchor or underway in any weather conditions.
The “old school? fly bridge has two captain’s chairs and an 8 foot upholstered bench seat. The owner has had 5 adults on this bench for fireworks
Repowered with twin Mercruiser 8.1s in 2006, the old fiberglass fuel tanks were removed and aluminum tanks installed. There are davits on the stern with over 1000 pound capacity. With only 850 hours she is ready to take you for an adventure of a lifetime. Flush deck motor yachts like the Bertram 42—with the lower helm forward on the semi-enclosed aft deck—are seldom seen these days, but back in the 1970s this was the way most motor yachts were designed. With her proven deep-V hull, the Bertram 42 can handle sea conditions that keep other motor yachts her size in port. At planing speeds a Bertram 42 shoulders aside building seas. They are a remarkable combination of build quality and design.
The engines were replaced in 2006
The fiberglass fuel tanks were replaced with aluminum in 2006. Forward has 168 gallons, Aft has 178 gallons totaling 346 gallons
All other tanks were replaced at this time
